Dubai to launch flying drone taxis in July
The chairman of the city's road in Dubai and Transport Authority , Mattar Al Tayer has revealed that Dubai will have autonomous taxi drones zipping around its skyline this summer. Speaking at the recent World Government Summit, a gathering of tech and government leaders at Dubai, he said:
The country which plans that a quarter of all journeys in the city will be autonomous by 2030, will have people sit inside the drones without fearing for their lives.
According to Huffington Post, the flying taxis manufactured by Chinese drone-making firm EHang can carry a person weighing up to 100 kilograms (about 220 pounds) along with a small suitcase.
'I am glad to inform you that hopefully, we will be able to have these drones available, starting July 2017.'
