 Delta State denies owing workers' salaries Austin Oyibode 40 minutes ago 207 – Delta state government says it has been able to keep state afloat despite economic recession and will continue to do so – The government says there is no truth in reports that it is owing its workers several months salaries because it has always met its obligations to its workforce Delta state government, on Wednesday, November 16, refuted reports alleging that the state is one of the 33 states that are unable to pay salaries of workers in Nigeria. On Tuesday, November 15, reports emerged that Delta state and 32 other states in the country could not pay the salaries of their workers. But the development has irked some officials of the government of the oil-rich state.

Victims' group withdraws from child abuse inquiry amid 'botch job' claims

Professor Alexis Jay is the fourth different chairwoman of the inquiry. A group representing 600 victims of sexual abuse has withdrawn from the official inquiry, branding it an "unpalatable circus". The Shirley Oaks Survivors Association says it has lost confidence in the inquiry's leadership, in another major blow to the independent probe. The group represents former residents of children's homes run by Lambeth Council in south London who were abused by paedophiles over several decades. In a strongly-worded statement the group said it believes the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) is a "botch job" and  chair Professor Alexis Jay  is the wrong person to lead it. Their withdrawal of support is yet another disaster for  the crisis-hit inquiry,  which is on its fourth chairwoman in just two years and has seen a number of senior lawyers resign in recent months.
